- Ok be brave, its time to rivet the ribs on ...session 1
The
tank was first of all dry assembled to get it straight in the jig,
and work started with rib next too the outboard end rib.
This
is a two handed job for me, so next-door popped round and gave a
helping hand. Getting the rib in the right place once it has all
its cement on is interesting. I used a locator pin to get it
right because with all the glupe you cant see where the holes are.
You will see what I mean. Then using the rivet gun, flush
set, and the tungsten bucking bar we set to riveting from the
leading edge to the aft edge. It took a few rivets to get
the feel back and we picked up a little speed.
We managed to do two ribs, including all the filleting and gluping
of the shop heads. No dents in the skin, rivets set well,
even if it is difficult to see the shops heads with all the cement
about !!!!!!
Oh and
I also gluped the shop heads from the D6 universal rivets I put in
the end outboard rib, you can see that in the first picture below.
The results look like this :-)
